This cathedral was the main in Riga until the Middle Age, dated 1209. The oldest past which corresponds today to the central section was built in gothic style, whereas at the end of the 15th century the tower was added, and the church was given the three-dimensional aspect as we know it today. As many other monuments of the Old Town, the cathedral suffered several collapses and destructions, caused by fires and wars. The last restructuration was completed in 1984. Today a lift takes to the second gallery of the tower, situated at 72 m above the ground, from where you can enjoy a beautiful view.
